Apr 29, 2015 · After you hit the okay button on the 'extrude and bevel' window and while the original 2-dimensional paths that you just extruded are still selected you select 'object' >> 'expand appearance' which will create the new 3-dimensional paths for your shape. The result is not made of different shapes. After applying the 3D extrude & bevel effect, I click Object > Expand Appearance, but instead of creating a shape for each individual face (this is what I want it to do), I just get a flattened layer called <Image>. Before exporting it to SVG I wanted to turn the new 3D object into a shape but expand appearance created an image instead. It is supposed to create an object with editable shapes.
